Cognitive T-slot sensor concept: Increasing forming machine efficiency with cognitive transformation of industrial processes
Forming presses are widely used as key elements of industrial production processes. The purchasing costs of these machines can reach double-digit millions. Given such a high level of investment, buyers expect machinery of this kind to keep running efficiently for a long time without any loss in quality.
At the Hannover Messe 2022, the Fraunhofer Cluster of Excellence Cognitive Internet Technologies CCIT will demonstrate the new cognitive T-slot sensor concept smartNotch, which can be used to improve the efficiency of forming machines (Hall 5, Booth A06).
Forming machines are used as an example for showcasing a solution in which cognitive internet technologies ensure consistently transparent processes and, as a result, enhance overall equipment effectiveness.
Screw connections on critical infrastructures are exposed to major stresses and must therefore be checked on a regular basis. Researchers at the Fraunhofer Cluster of Excellence Cognitive Internet Technologies CCIT have now developed a technology that allows the stability of the screw connections to be checked at any time by remote monitoring. This increases safety and reduces the time and effort spent on inspections.
The technology is designed for commercially available DIN screws. The system is ready to use for M18 screws, and versions will soon be available for M20 and M36 screws. A demonstration version will be exhibited at the Hannover Messe 2022 (May 30–June 2) (Hall 5, Booth A06).
